Last night's Packers-Lions game was greatly impacted by a pair of erroneous Illegal Hands to the Face calls on Lions defenders during critical third down plays. Both led to Green Bay scoring drives, including the eventual game-winning field goal as time expired.
There has been an uproar from fans, media, and past and present NFL players about the blown calls, botched reviews, and the amount of flags in general. So, I decided to ask a question about it on Twitter today: how much is the poor officiating affecting your viewing?
As you can see, the NFL is so popular that most are willing to put up with the "warts" in order to keep following along. Obviously, the fantasy and gambling aspect is huge, but that investment from fans has led to even more frustration. These calls are affecting not only game outcomes, but fantasy matchups and real money wagers.
We'll see if this continues or blows over. For now, it's a real problem.
