"Where is Justin Houston?" was a common refrain among Colts fans for the first four weeks, but after he spearheaded a tremendous defense effort at Arrowhead last Sunday, that question isn't being asked anymore.
The former All-Pro was recognized by the league today with AFC Defensive Player of the Week honors:
Houston had a sack of Patrick Mahomes and a pivotal fourth-and-short stop with just five minutes remaining to help seal the Colts' victory. He spent eight seasons with the Chiefs, making four Pro Bowls and compiling 78 1/2 sacks, but Kansas City decided to let him walk in free agency last Spring. That opened the door for the Colts, who swooped in with a $24 million contract.
Let's hope that this homecoming performance is something to build on for Houston and not the one-off that Andre Johnson had in 2015 against his former team.
