Every great player has an expiration date - has Adam Vinatieri reached his?
The 46-year old kicker missed three critical kicks yesterday, including a PAT and a chip-shot 29-yard field goal, in the Colts' overtime loss to the Chargers. It was the second straight forgettable game for Vinatieri, who was also awful in Indy's Divisional Round loss at Arrowhead Stadium last January.
Give Vinatieri credit, though, he owned it:
Is this a sign of a downward spiral? It's still too early to tell. Vinatieri was still fine last season numbers-wise, connecting on 23 of 27 attempts at the age of 45, but his season-ending performance in KC raised some eyebrows.
This is certainly something to keep an eye on moving forward, though, and you have to wonder if 2019 is finally the swan song for the future Hall of Famer.
