For most NFL teams, it's irrelevant whether their backup quarterback is good or not. However, considering Andrew Luck's injury history, it's very relevant for the Colts.
As doubt builds over Luck's status for Week 1, it was good to see Jacoby Brissett perform well during yesterday's joint practice with Cleveland:
Sure, it's just a joint practice, so it's not the biggest deal in the world. That said, Brissett, who is entering his third year with the team, could be Indy's starter in Week 1 and beyond. The Colts couldn't survive another season-long Luck injury, but if this is a short-term issue (Week 1? Just the first few weeks?), then perhaps Brissett could guide them through.
The decision on who starts Week 1 could come as soon as the final preseason week.
