Erica Wheeler had herself quite the weekend.
The first-time Indiana Fever All-Star hit her first six three-point attempts during Saturday's All-Star Game and saved the dagger, her seventh, to put away the West in the final minute en route to earning MVP honors. The 28-year old Wheeler is only the fifth player in WNBA history to go from undrafted to All-Star and set the Fever franchsie scoring record for an All-Star Game.
But, her story is so much more than basketball. Wheeler shared her path - escaping the violence of inner city Miami, overcoming the tragic loss of her mother to cancer, and beating the odds through intentional trips and WNBA cuts - to get to where she is today.
