The Pacers cap space ended up paying off in a big way earlier today.
Indiana was able to acquire T.J. Warren from Phoenix and the 32nd pick in tonight's draft for cash:
How is this deal possible? Well, the Suns were desperate to create more cap space and were willing to dump the remaining $35 million (three years) on Warren's deal on the Pacers without taking anything notable in return.
For Indiana, Warren immediately becomes a solid replacement for either Bojan Bogdanovic or Thad Young (I'm assuming the Pacers do everything they can to retain Bogey) and gives the Nate McMillan's offense a boost. Warren is a gifted scorer, who shot 42% from three last season and has averaged near 20 points per game over the last two years. He's also just 25 - turns 26 in September - meaning the Pacers will have him under team control for his prime years of 26, 27, and 28.
