A young fan at an Indianapolis Indians game was the latest to suffer a foul ball injury. The incident happened at Victory Field on Saturday night, and the child was taken to an area hospital. As of this morning, there was no update on their status:
This comes just days after a similarly frightening injury to a young fan in a Cubs/Astros game in Houston. Albert Almora Jr., who was the player who hit the line drive into the stands, was inconsolable after the incident:
It feels like we've reached the tipping point and an overwhelming majority of fans are in favor of increased netting around the field of play. While we may not see wholesale changes during the season that is already underway, I would imagine we'll see increased safety measures for 2020 - many of which could be mandatory from MLB.
