Al Unser Jr. is one of the greatest open-wheel drivers in history, and a frequent guest on our show, so this isn't news we're happy to share. The two-time Indianapolis 500 winner was arrested in Avon for OWI:
Little Al has had a long battle with alcohol. He was arrested for two DUIs in the span of five years (2007, 2011) and has been open about his quest to defeat his alcoholism. He's even appeared to groups to talk about his struggle, including Hope Academy in Indianapolis earlier this month. He has stayed active in the IndyCar Series, working with Harding Steinbrenner Racing's program this season.
While we hope Al Jr. continues to get the help he needs, and are rooting for him to beat his addiction for good, there's no excuse for getting behind the wheel while intoxicated (as he allegedly did last night).
