After giving away Game 2 with a disastrous fourth quarter and finish, the Pacers now have an uphill climb if they're going to advance to the next round. How big of a hill is it? Well, if history is any indicator, it's more like a mountain. Here is some of the not-so-pretty 0-2 history:
- Indiana has never overcome an 0-2 deficit in franchise history (0-6)
- The Celtics are 36-1 all-time in series when they have a 2-0 lead
- Only 20 of 282 teams (7%) have rallied from an 0-2 hole to win a series
Yikes.
The good news? There's been an 0-2 winner in each of the last two postseasons and both series involved the Celtics - they rallied from an 0-2 hole against Chicago in 2017 and squandered a 2-0 lead against Cleveland last season.
Regardless, if the Pacers lose tonight, the series is over. No team in NBA history has ever rallied from down 0-3 and only three have ever even forced a Game 7.
