Anyone who watched college basketball this year knew that the Big Ten was one of the top leagues, if not the best in the country. However, most couldn't have seen seven of the eight Big Ten teams in the NCAA Tournament winning first round games:
Only the Big East (2008 and 2011) has ever sent seven teams in the Second Round. What makes the feat even more impressive is that Iowa, Minnesota, and Ohio State were all winners as double-digit seeds. The conference's lone loss, Wisconsin falling to Pac-12 Tournament champion Oregon, was hardly much of an upset (Badgers were only a 2-point favorite).
We know at least one Big Ten team will lose in the Second Round... because Minnesota plays Michigan State.
