The Time George H.W. Bush Went to an Indians Game

As the country remembers the late President George H. W. Bush this week, a random story involving Bush and Indianapolis popped up in the Washington Post. During a campaign stop in Louisville in 1992, Bush, a former baseball player, executive, and huge fan in his own right, attended a Bats game against the Indianapolis Indians.

In an even stranger twist, there was a brawl between the Indians and Bats during the game!

Despite the on-field fireworks, the players did get to meet Bush and it's a bit surreal to see minor league ballplayers with "Indianapolis" across their chest shaking hands with the sitting President.

There's one (and possibly the only) sports connection between the late, great President and our city.
