If you were hoping the NFL was going to step in and stop ridiculous Roughing The Passer penalties, you'll have to wait until 2019 (if ever).
Through three weeks, there have been 34 roughing the passer calls. Through three games last year, there had been just 16, and through three games in 2016, there were 20.
It's been a hot-button issue through the first month of the season because many feel like the body weight rule is making a mockery of the game. Seemingly proper tackles, like several for Green Bay's Clay Matthews, have drawn flags merely because Matthews landed on the opposing quarterback. I can't help but agree with those detractors:
