Most of us believed we had a good handle on who was going to stay and who would go when the Colts trimmed their roster from 90 to 53. Many were wrong about two names: Reece Fountain and John Simon.
Fountain, a fifth round pick a few months ago, had an underwhelming offseason overall, but came in late in the preseason to seemingly secure his spot on a Colts’ WR roster lacking proven talent. Instead, he becomes the second Chris Ballard draft pick to never play a snap for the team (Zach Banner, 2017).
Simon, a veteran who signed in free agency last summer, had a terrific camp/preseason but was a poor scheme fit as a 4-3 defensive end.
