Should the "Bumped" Stay Bumped?

Drivers wait all year for their shot at racing immortality in the Indianapolis 500, and when they fall short of that goal, it is devastating. It was especially that way for full-time driver, championship contender, and fan-favorite James Hinchcliffe.

The Canadian was bumped out of the field on Saturday and left on pit road when the final gun went off to seal his fate. Although there have been discussions (perhaps ongoing) about Hinch getting into someone else's seat, it appears that he will stay out of the Indianapolis 500.

As much as not having Hinchcliffe in the 500 is detrimental to the race and IndyCar, I don't think compromising the integrity of Bump Day - which has been a rare occurrence in recent years - is the right solution. It sucks for Hinch, but to me, that's Indy.

Is that the right thing? Should "bumped" drivers stay bumped? Or would you prefer that star drivers find a spot in the field at the expense of a one-off?
