20th for Kerry's 20 K!

We just hit the 20th anniversary of one of the greatest pitching performances in baseball history.

On May 6, 1998, 20-year old phenom Kerry Wood struck out twenty batters, tying the MLB record. It is considered by some to be the greatest single-game pitching performance ever. Here is the box score:

Randy Johnson (2000) and Max Scherzer (2016) are the only two pitchers since to replicate the feat, bringing the grand total to four 20K men - Roger Clemens struck out twenty batters twice.

While he never quite lived up to the massive hype he had as a rookie, Wood made two All-Star Games over a fifteen-year career (thirteen seasons with the Cubs) and led the National League in strikeouts during Chicago's ill-fated 2003 season.
