We're still only a few days into the Pacers' offseason, but they already received good news today with backup point guard Cory Joseph reportedly opting-in for another year:
With Joseph on board, here are the Pacers left who are still up-in-the-air:
Team options: SG Lance Stephenson ($4.3M), PG Joe Young ($1.6M), PF Al Jefferson ($10M)
You would have to think that the Pacers will opt-in on Lance, who perhaps had his best postseason series as a Pacers in the opening round against Cleveland. Jefferson was viewed as a locker room leader, but ten million is a lot of dough for a guy who fell out of the rotation. The Pacers have to make a decision whether they want to continue to take a look at Joe Young.
Player option: Thad Young ($13.7M)
Young is a rock solid forward and respected veteran, but he'll turn 30 this offseason and could be looking for a multiyear deal somewhere. He has spoken very highly of the franchise and playing in Indianapolis, for whatever it's worth.
Free agent: Glenn Robinson III
You feel for GR3, who was in a make-or-break season this year but never was able to get right after ankle surgery in the Fall. I don't know what the Pacers will end up doing here.
I was looking at the list of soon-to-be free agents and who would fit what the Pacers' need - a 3 & D guy, shooters, defenders - and here's what I came up with: Paul George (LOL), Marco Belinelli, Trevor Ariza, J.J. Redick, Marcus Smart, and Luc Mbah a Moute.
