LISTEN: Remembering Joe McConnell

Joe McConnell's career spanned different sports, different states, and different leagues. He spent time as the voice of the Pacers (1972-77), Colts (1992-94), and Purdue football (1994-2009) here in Indiana, but also had stints with the Vikings, Bears, Twins, and White Sox.

The Goodland native was best known in his home state for his 15-year tenure in West Lafayette, which spanned the entirety of the Joe Tiller era. The man who succeeded him in that post, Tim Newton, joined us today to share his memories of Joe, including McConnell's historic "fake game" broadcast of an imaginary Indianapolis pro football team in the 1970s.
