Not a Great Start for Archie

Archie Miller is off to a terrific recruiting start, but in the first two games on-the-court, his Hoosiers have struggled.

Indiana was lit up by Indiana State in a 21-point defeat on Friday night, watching helplessly as the Sycamores sank 17 three-pointers. That was followed by an underwhelming 86-77 win over Howard last night. Who's Howard, you ask? They're a MEAC team... and they're one of the worst basketball squads in the entire country. Here's KenPom's current ratings:

If you're looking for signs of encouragement, Indiana got great contributions last night from a pair of freshmen in Al Durham (16 points) and Justin Smith (16 points, 12 rebounds). De'Ron Davis looks like he's poised for a big year, as many have expected. Also, Miller's off to a red-hot recruiting start, which could continue pending Darius Garland's decision later this afternoon.

Two games is way too small of a sample-size to go on, but considering Indiana is a team coming off a missed NCAA Tournament and losing their three top players, fans should properly temper their expectations for Miller's first season at the helm.
