The Purdue football family lost a great coach and person with yesterday's passing of Joe Tiller.
We spent about thirty minutes with Coach Tiller two summers ago, as part of our annual Catching Up With... series, and it is one of my favorite conversations we've ever had on the show. Joe looked back on his great tenure at Purdue, spoke bluntly about his relationship with Morgan Burke (about the 9:00 mark, Tiller has a great line about his former Athletic Director), and joked about retired life on his massive 40-acre homestead in Wyoming. In the course of the interview, Tiller revealed the sense of humor and character that made him such a beloved figure to Boilermaker fans.
We are going to replay it on tomorrow's show, but I wanted to give listeners a chance to hear it here, too. I think it's worth your time:
R.I.P., Coach. You'll be greatly missed.
