Who is Jacoby Brissett?

Given Scott Tolzien's limitations and preseason struggles, it's not much of a stretch to think that he'll be replaced as the Colts' temporary #1 quarterback at some point. The guy to replace him? Newly-acquired Jacoby Brissett.

The 24-year old was forced into two starts last season during Tom Brady's suspension and Jimmy Garoppolo's injury, and performed admirably, going 28-46 for 308 yards (0 TD, 0 INT, 1 rush TD) in splitting those two starts. He was unspectacular, but given the circumstances of being a rookie third-string quarterback, that isn't too shabby.

Also, and take this next bit with a major grain of salt, he turned in one of the best preseason performances of any quarterback this past week against the Giants. Two caveats here: 1) It was the fourth preseason game (the most meaningless of meaningless games), and; 2) How many guys on the field actually made the Giants' roster? That said, still impressive.

The Colts are going to have trouble winning games during Andrew Luck's absence, regardless of who is under center. But, if Tolzien is who we all think he is, and this Luck rehab stretches through September, don't be surprised to see Brissett back there as the new starter.
