You always hear about the big names from the big schools leading up to the NFL Draft, but sometimes the small school diamonds in the rough have the biggest impact.
Javancy Jones is hoping to be on of those diamonds. The linebacker starred at Jackson State, an HBCU school in the SWAC (similar to Robert Mathis, who played at Alabama A&M), earning FCS All-American honors this past season. He worked out for the Colts yesterday as he continues to get in front of as many NFL teams as possible.
Jones also has a touching backstory. He turned down offers from Duke and Vanderbilt to stay close to his home in Mississippi to be with his family, after his mother was diagnosed with neuromyelitis optica.
