Jason Smith: The Rockets gave up WAY TOO MUCH for KD

Jason Smith and Mike Harmon discuss Kevin Durant going to yet another team to try and win a championship. Jason believes the Rockets gave up too much for KD, but Mike brings up how the Rockets now have the 4th-best title odds going into next season.

Jason Smith:

"Kevin Durant gets dealt to the Rockets a day ago a couple hours before the NBA Finals start. Kevin Durant is on stage asking questions. Rockets gave up way too much. Now that being said, I sort of like the deal, but I only sort of like it. You give you your leading scorer and you give up another really good piece. Like Dillon Brooks is that agitator that's a good defender that hits threes. Like he's not just a guy. This is a trade to make the money work, not to say hey we're gonna make out on the deal. Like, oh, we got rid of a guy, we had to get rid of him. We got a young star, we got a really good role player, we got a bunch of draft picks, we got everything. I don't understand. It's like hey I really have to sell this car by Wednesday. Yeah it's a good car, but it's got a lot of miles on it. And I'm hoping to trade it in, and I'm hoping to get 2500 bucks, I'll be happy, but I got to get a new car by Wednesday. And you go to the dealer and the dealer is like I love this car, I'm gonna give you $15,000 for it. And I'm gonna give you coupons for free car washes at this place right here. I'm going to give you coupons for 10 free oil changes. Oh wow, thanks. I can't believe this is what I'm getting. That was the Rockets for KD. "

Mike Harmon:

"So Green goes out 21 a game, Sengun sticks around and he's 19 a game and ascending, Amen Thompson. You do have a number of young players that are in their second or third year about to rise up and then veterans like Fred VanVleet still hanging around. You also re-signed your coach. And for Kevin Durant, they tried the star building in Brooklyn and that didn't work whatever you believe about that back and forth, now you got to a squad that's built for a team right now. It's not star laden, you are the one star. You're also in the Shactus or big Leprechaun version of Kevin Durant of how many jersey's he has now, I think someone said he has the full rainbow depending on which jersey he's wearing, but you bring him in. And the Rockets are the 4th favorite to win the NBA title right now and he gets to reignite any hatred he may have with OKC."
