X Ambassadors Release Folky 'Great Unknown' For 'The Call Of The Wild' Film

On Friday (February 21), X Ambassadors released their brand new song, “Great Unknown,” from the new movie, The Call Of The Wild — adapted from 1903 novel “Call of the Wild” by Jack London.

“Great Unknown” marks the band's second soundtrack song following “Baptize Me” from 2019's Game Of Thrones' For The Throne soundtrack.

To announce the song, singer Sam Harris posted photos on Instagram of his new dog, Prince, and how he was asked to write the track “the same exact day” he adopted Prince. “Serendipitously, on the SAME EXACT DAY we adopted him I get a call from @andrewwells_ and @antmundo asking me if I like to help them write a song for a new Harrison Ford movie about him and his CGI dog,” he wrote. “I said, “Harrison Ford? CGI dogs? A canonical story about man and man’s best friend? COUNT ME THE F*** IN.”

“'Cause if you fall I will follow you into the great unknown/ Where wild winds blow If you lose it all/ You know I'll be there when everybody's gone/ You're not alone/ 'Cause I'll follow you, oh/ Where the wild winds blow” Harris sings in the chorus.

The lyrics mirror the central plot of the film of the friendship and loyalty between a man and his dog as they try to survive in the harsh Alaskan wild. And even if you're not planning on traversing Alaska anytime soon, The song has a country folk flair that has listeners getting the sudden urge to embark on their own great adventure, road trip or maybe just endless cuddles with their pet.
