Fried chicken is a classic American food thanks to places like KFC.

While KFC, Popeyes, Wendys, and others compete to see who has the best chicken sandwich, foodies know that the crispiest and juiciest fried chicken doesn't come from a fast food joint.

That's why food website Mashed looked high and low to find the best fried chicken in every state in the U.S. It looked at reviews, awards, recommendations, and did its own taste tests before compiling its list.

So where can you get the best drumstick in Indiana?

It's Fireside Inn in Greensburg.

Here's what Mashed had to say about this classic eatery:

In Southeastern Indiana, fried chicken is such an universal obsession that it's unlike anywhere else in the United States. In fact, they love it so much there that they have something called the Chicken Trail that connects 40 fried chicken restaurants in the area. The first stop (and, as luck would have it, the best stop) on the Chicken Trail is Fireside Inn in the city of Greensburg. Patrons insist this is the best fried chicken anywhere — and it's difficult to disagree.
